German Private Bank Appoints New Head for Luxembourg Business

Sal. Oppenheim has appointed Günther Baur as the new managing director of its Luxembourg business. The move follows the retirement of Mirko von Restorff, the previous head. Prior to joining Sal. Oppenheim, Mr Baur served 13 years at Deutsche Bank, most recently holding the post of managing director in Private Wealth Management at Deutsche Bank Luxembourg. Sal. Oppenheim was one of the founding shareholders in Banque Internationale à Luxembourg in 1856 and has had a presence in the Luxembourg banking community since 1973 with its own subsidiary, Sal. Oppenheim (Luxembourg). The Luxembourg subsidiary currently manages assets of approximately €6 billion ($7.74 billion), and employs 104 staff.
