Geneva-based Banque Baring Brothers has changed its name to Banque Baring Brothers Sturdza. The move comes a few months after Eric Sturdza acquired 100 per cent of the bank from the ING Group, which previously had a 70 per cent stake in BBB. ING inherited 70 per cent of the bank when it bought the Barings Group in 1995. Banque Barings Brothers has around SFr2.5 billion ($1.9 billion) of assets under management. Prince Sturdza’s family is connected to a past Romanian monarchy and would have a claim on the throne if the monarchy was revived in the country.
