GAM Board Member Steps Down As Others Step Up

The Switzerland-based asset manager has announced new additions to its board.
GAM board
reshuffe includes Scott Sullivan stepping down as group general
counsel and from the group management board. Dirk Spiegel,
currently general counsel for continental Europe, will
succeed him.
Sullivan will assume the role of group vice chairman. In
that role, he will act as a senior advisor to the group
management board and the board of directors.
“I am very appreciative to him [Sullivan] for taking on this
new broader role.” said Alexander Friedman, group chief executive
of GAM
“Dirk is immensely qualified to take on the role of group general
counsel and has proven himself as a key member of GAM’s legal
team since joining the company in 2013. His appointment allows
for a seamless transition in our legal and compliance function.”
he added.
New additions to the group management board include Elmar
Zumbuehl and Tim Rainsford. Zumbuehl’s role as group chief risk
officer is newly-created. He was previously group head
of risk and governance at the firm. Rainsford’s appointment was
announced
in July. He will join the firm in January from Man
Investments where he is global head of sales and
marketing.
“The appointment of Elmar to the group management board and the
creation of the chief risk officer role underscore the importance
of this function to GAM. I look forward to working closely with
Elmar, Tim and Dirk. With these appointments, the leadership team
is positioned to drive forward our growth initiatives,” Friedman
commented.
A spokeperson for GAM was not able to comment on who would be replacing Spiegel as general counsel for continental Europe.
