Dutch-Belgian financial services group Fortis is to open a new office in Zurich as part of its new strategy of opening so-called “Business Centres” in 16 countries throughout Europe. The new Business Centre will deliver business services to medium-sized enterprises with annual sales between €2.5 million ($3.2 million) and €250 million, with an emphasis on internationally active companies with complex financial needs. The bank also plans to use the centre as a conduit for its private banking operations. Fortis recently announced that it was re-branding its private banking operations under the current name MeesPierson. Within the next 18 months, MeesPierson will be renamed Fortis Private Banking.
