A management buy out completed in the last days of June has launched one of the largest trust and corporate service providers in the Isle of Man. SMP Partners is the business which has emerged from the June MBO of Fortis Intertrust (IOM). The business employs around 120 professionals in Douglas. It has retained the Fortis senior management team. SMP has one of the largest dedicated tax teams on the island in a corporate service provider. Tax director Justin Scott said: “Our team of 10 tax professionals will focus on new and existing clients and enhancing levels of customer service.” The tax department last year recruited two additional experienced chartered tax advisers - Ali Stennett (ex KPMG) and Amanda Harrison (ex Grant Thornton). They have now been promoted to senior tax manager. SMP Partners’ tax department provides tax advisory and compliance services to new and existing clients. Its core function is supporting and assisting the fiduciary and trust departments to ensure structures managed by SMP Partners on behalf of other professional advisors.
