FocusShares Selects SunGard For New ETF Business

FocusShares, a New Jersey-based registered investment advisor and exchange traded fund sponsor, has implemented SunGard’s Asset Arena Investment Management, APT and Asset Arena Reconciliation integrated software for its newly-launched ETF business.

In March, FocusShares launched 15 FocusTM Morningstar ETFs on NYSE Arca, based on Morningstar's US Market, Large Cap, Mid Cap and Small Cap indexes, as well as 11 sector indexes.

Going forwards, FocusShares will use the SunGard APT risk management tools to help it track the funds’ underlying indexes, while Asset Arena Investment Management will process the trade outputs in real-time and help ensure appropriate compliance.

“SunGard’s end-to-end solution spanning various parts of the portfolio, compliance and risk management value chain will be absolutely essential in helping us run our ETF business. While our initial offering focuses on US-listed equities, SunGard provides us with a scalable solution that will help us expand our product offerings in the future,” said Kris Wallace, head of portfolio management and product development at FocusShares.

FocusShares was acquired in June 2010 by Scottrade Financial Services, the parent holding company of Scottrade.
