Finland’s wealth tax is to be abolished from 1 January 2006. Currently, assets of more than €185,000 ($221,000) are taxed at 0.9 per cent a year. The Finish government rejected the idea of following the lead of other Baltic states by introducing a flat tax arguing that this would increase income disparity.
