Fidelity Investments Ramps Up UHNW Program For RIAs

Fidelity Investments has hired the veteran registered investment advisor luminary Trevor Norton as head of its ultra high net worth program for RIAs, which has already passed the $2 billion mark for client assets.
Since being launched in October 2010, the program has, the firm said, leveraged the resources of Fidelity Family Office Services to give RIAs’ wealthiest clients - those with investable assets of $50 million or more - direct access to the same sophisticated resources available for family offices.
The development of the program highlights how Fidelity Investments, along with private banks and other investment houses, are increasingly trying to tap into the UHNW client space, not just in North America, but around the world.
Norton will report to Edward Orazem, president of Fidelity Family Office Services. Norton has 13 years of experience working with RIAs, specifically in providing advisors with sophisticated wealth management products and building custody solutions for RIAs. Prior to joining Fidelity, Norton was head of LPL Financial’s RIA Services group and before this spent 10 years in Fidelity’s intermediary businesses.
Under Fidelity’s RIA program for UHNW clients, advisors have access to: a relationship management team; investment analysis and trading; reporting and administration services; research on areas such as family education and governance, and a peer network program.
Fidelity Investments has around $3.6 trillion in assets under administration and manages some $1.6 trillion of client assets, as of March 31.
