EFG has hired a Barclays Wealth head in Singapore to join its NRI business.

EFG Bank, the Swiss bank, has hired Amrit Uppal from Barclays Wealth and Investment Management to lead its non-resident Indian business. 

Uppal brings with him two client relationship officers from Barclays and will continue to recruit more NRI coverage client relationship managers both in Asia and the UK.

In this new role as managing director and head/senior vice president of the global South Asian diaspora, he will develop a global strategy to penetrate the NRI client segment and also source for products and a platform to service this market. 

Apart from the CRO team that he recruited, he will also work with the existing CROs covering the segment. He was previously a director and team head at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, based in Singapore.
