Ex-UBS advisor goes independent with Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo Advisors confirms veteran broker Lewis has joined its indie unit. Former UBS broker Andrew Lewis has joined Wells Fargo Advisors' independent-broker unit. He's based in the firm's Vienna, Va., office.

Yes and no comment

Wells Fargo has confirmed the move; UBS declined to comment on it.

Lewis, who had been with UBS and its U.S.-brokerage forerunner Paine Webber for a dozen years, managed $146 million in client assets for UBS last year.

"Wells Fargo Advisors" is the brand San Francisco-based Wells Fargo conferred on its combination of Wachovia Securities and its legacy brokerage Wells Fargo Investments this year. Wells Fargo acquired Wachovia late in 2008.

In its latest financial report, Wells Fargo said company-wide net income in the three months to 30 June rose 40% from the previous quarter to $363 million. -FWR
