Ex-Temenos CEO Becomes Strategic Investor Into Swiss VC House

Max Chuard, who worked at Temenos for more than two decades, is one of the most prominent players in the banking tech space. He has his own family office, which now invests in the Swiss VC firm Aperture.

A former CEO of banking technology firm Temenos, Max Chuard (main picture), is now a strategic investor and investment committee member of Switzerland’s Aperture Capital, a venture capital business.

Chuard was CEO of Temenos until 2023, working at the Swiss firm for more than two decades.

Via his own family office, Astir Capital, Chuard has invested in Aperture Capital, but also intends to co-invest with the firm in its most promising portfolio companies. Effectively, Aperture Capital will become the main platform through which Astir Capital invests in early-growth fintech companies. Initial investments via Aperture Capital include fast-growing fintech businesses such as Stableton, Trustap and Fundcraft.

Established in 2019, Aperture Capital concentrates on early-growth European fintech, investing across business-to-business fintech, cybersecurity and embedded finance in companies leveraging AI. It has backed more than 20 companies to date, achieving an internal rate of return of more than 40 per cent.

Aperture has a team of more than 30 people, based in five cities across Europe and the US comprises. Several of these figures are former Temenos employees, Aperture said.

Chuard will sit alongside existing Aperture committee members including Aleksandra Laska, a former general partner at RedAlpine, and Brett Bivens, a GP at Production Capital.
