A team of former managers from Microsoft have launched a hedge fund firm called Tahoma Capital, which is targeting investments from high net worth individuals. The team managed money for Microsoft at its corporate treasury department and is led by Jeffrey Scott, who was assistant treasurer at the software giant. Five other members of the treasury department have joined Mr Scott, including one former managing director in the Microsoft portfolio unit and four other senior directors. Between them they managed more than $56 billion in assets. Tahoma's literature claims that between July 2000 and July 2005, Mr Scott's team produced an average annual return of 7.07 per cent at Microsoft, making it the third-largest profit generator at the company.
