A hedge fund started by two former Goldman Sachs bankers plans to list on Euronext Amsterdam, joining a growing trend of alternative-investment vehicles looking to raise cash through initial public offerings. Boussard & Gavaudan Asset Management, founded by Emmanuel Gavaudan, a former Goldman Sachs partner and managing director, and Emmanuel Boussard another ex-Goldman employee, will list the Sark Holding fund later this year, according to the firm. B&G Asset Management has offices in Paris and London and around $1.5 billion of assets under management. It declined to say how much it planned to raise with the IPO. Other alternative investment funds that have listed this year include Guernsey-based fund of hedge funds CMA Global Hedge and New York-based private-equity group Kohlberg Kravis Roberts which raised $5 billion through a fund listing in Amsterdam in May. Many planned IPOs have been pulled this year, though, with bankers saying the listings have yet to address investor concerns over how the vehicles are structured.
