European wealth managers do not see the strong potential in the lending business, despite its success in the US and Australia, according to a new report by Datamonitor. Only a few European wealth managers are focusing resources on mortgages, margin lending and similar products in the next two years to capitalise on opportunities in lending, says the report. Amongst the list that is looking at lending are Barclays, Credit Suisse, HSBC, Merrill Lynch and UBS who see lending as key part of a holistic wealth management approach that aims to cover all aspects of client needs, says Datamonitor.
