European Hedge Fund Index Shows Modest Rise

The TARA Capital European Hedge Fund Benchmark rose by 0.20 per cent in May. The Benchmark provides an indicator of the performance of European hedge funds and was developed to enhance TARA Capital’s manager selection and asset allocation processes for internally advised portfolios and advisory clients. The overall Benchmark consists of 4 broad and 19 sub-strategies within the European hedge fund sector and is derived from the TARA database of more than 300 European focused hedge funds. European long/short rose 0.60 per cent in the month and 3.47 per cent year-to-date. European relative value fell 0.03 per cent but was up 1.22 per cent YTD. The worst performing strategy was event driven with an average fall of 0.85 per cent, up 0.3 per cent YTD and the best performance of the month was delivered by European multi-strategy with an increase of 0.54 per cent on the month, 3.24 per cent YTD. TARA defines a European hedge fund as a fund that invests the majority of its assets in European instruments or markets.
