Edelman Expands With New Boston Offices

Edelman Financial Services is expanding with two new offices in the Boston area.

The RIA has offices in Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts and Florida, and manages around $6.5 billion for some 15,000 clients. It pitches itself as not only serving the wealthy, but being accessible to non-millionaires as well.

“Although many of our clients have a high net worth,” said Ric Edelman, the firm’s well-known chairman and chief executive, “most of our clients are not in that exclusive realm.”

Sanders Morris Harris acquired EFS in 2005 to extend its reach into the mass affluent space. As part of the deal Ric Edelman stayed in his position and also became president of SMHG.
