DFSA document alert: 'Certificate of Clean Bill' is false form

The Dubai Financial Services Authority is alerting firms in the Dubai International Financial Centre to a scam involving the use of a false DFSA document (pictured).

The perpetrators of the scam are making fraudulently use of the name and logo of the DFSA on a false application form for a "Certificate of Clean Bill (CofCB)"; and require persons to submit the false application form and to pay an advance fee of US$7,000 in order to receive the "Certificate of Clean Bill (CofCB)." The document does resemble a DFSA letter.

The DFSA, needless to say, does not issue a "Certificate of Clean Bill" and therefore does not charge that fee. It has a page on its website dedicated to alerts which it has issued in relation to scams. All Alerts issued by the DFSA may be accessed by going to: http://www.dfsa.ae/Alerts/Alerts.aspx

Anyone who has any concerns about the authenticity of any DIFC or DFSA correspondence or documents ought to ring the DIFC on +971 4 362 2222.
