Deutsche Bank Opens Qatar Branch

Deutsche Bank formally opened its branch in the Qatar Financial Centre yesterday, from where it will be offering private wealth management services and investment banking. The German bank has appointed Mounir Husseini as chief country officer for Qatar and general manager of Deutsche Bank Doha (QFC) branch. Mr Husseini joins Deutsche Bank from Daimler Financial Services in Berlin, where he held the position of managing director at the Structured Finance division. Henry Azzam, chief executive of Deutsche Bank in the Middle East and North Africa region said: “In January 2007 we were granted a licence from the Qatar Financial Centre Authority. Qatar presents Deutsche Bank with an opportunity to offer our sophisticated capital markets products to both institutional and private clients.” Deutsche Bank previously had two branches in the MENA region – one in the Dubai International Financial Centre and one in Saudi Arabia. It also has representative and securities offices in Cairo, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Algeria.
