Cube Opens Global Opportunities Fund To External Investors

Cube Capital, a London-based alternative investment firm, has made its $100 million Cube Global Opportunities fund available for external investors for the first time since its launch three years ago.
Francois Buclez, chief executive of Cube, thinks now is the right time to open it for outside investors, as “we expect global economic instability to continue for the foreseeable future, and continue to be a fertile source of dislocation, so there will be many opportunities for this contrarian fund and its investors”.
The fund is described as investing long and short in equity, debt and derivative securities globally, taking an event-driven approach to opportunities across countries and sectors predominantly in Asia and Europe. It tries to find dislocated markets and disruptions within sectors and industries, and changes in risk perceptions triggering investors to exit and thereby creating attractive entry points.
Portfolio manager Nick Linnane says finding market dislocations is only part of the challenge and that extensive research is needed on top of that.
In other fund-related news at Cube, last month it launched the Cube Asia Frontier Fund, focused on real estate investment in Mongolia, Myanmar and Vietnam.
