Credit Suisse has launched the Healthy Life Index, a broad research project to identify areas of vital importance for our future contentment such as healthcare, with a view to hanging structured investment products on the findings and to capitalise on these areas of future advancement. The firm's analysts have earmarked four areas of importance: healthcare, social life, work life and financial independence. "Specifically we can expect to see advancements in the treatment of cancer and also the use of nanotechnology in fighting disease. Companies such as Roche, the global healcare vendor, will stand to benefit hugely going forward," said Credit Suisse in a statement. We can also expect to see real estate bulging in areas such as accommodation for the elderly and the retired, as people live longer, according to the bank. There will also be more travel as people try to enjoy their leisure time, shopping malls that cater to absolutely all our needs and even robots to perform chores and free up more time, are mentioned. In terms of investing, high net worth individuals will be more inclined to put money into investments with a philanthropic element to them, such as microfinance funds, said Credit Suisse. Christine Schmid, an equity analyst for Credit Suisse told WealthBriefing: "Our theory regarding the broad and complex study on happiness is that this is a long term investment area and not short term. "The structured products we are launching will focus on capital preservation, products with guarantees."
