Credit Suisse announced a major expansion plan in Asia, saying it would hire for up to 900 positions by year-end 2007. The announcement confirms earlier speculation in the media. The Zurich-based bank says it has leased new office space in Singapore to house support staff covering a range of activities including information technology, operations, finance and product control. Credit Suisse said in a statement that: "At full capacity, Credit Suisse's expansion to One Raffles Quay will represent a significant increase of its workforce in Singapore to almost 3600 personnel. The new Center of Excellence at One Raffles Quay is the second such facility Credit Suisse has taken in Singapore, adding to an existing facility at The Signature, in Changi Business Park.” The statement added: “The decision to expand the Center of Excellence for Credit Suisse in Singapore is part of a strategic focus to deploy its resources and build new infrastructure globally to deliver on the needs of its clients.”
