Crédit Agricole Appoints International Private Banking Head

Crédit Agricole has promoted Jean-François Abadie to head of International Private Banking and a member of the management committee of its Calyon corporate and investment banking entity. He replaces Jacques Haffner, who is due to retire in April. Mr Abadie joined Banque Indosuez’s internal audit department in 1981. In 1996, he became chief executive of its Banque Indosuez España subsidiary and in 1999 became chief operating officer of Crédit Agricole Indosuez UK in London. He was general secretary of the Private Banking Division from January 2003 and on 2 January was appointed head of France and International Private Banking within the Private Banking division of Crédit Agricole. As of 1 January, Jean-François Marchal was promoted to head of the Structured Finance division and member of Calyon’s executive committee and management committee. He replaced Marc Tabouis who retired at the end of 2007. Mr Marchal joined Banque Indosuez in 1977 and held various posts in the international network after 1984, notably as senior country officer in South Africa, Sweden and Belgium and, from 1999 to 2003, the UK. In 2003, he was appointed head of Calyon’s Export, Trade and Commodity Finance department and also became head of the Project Finance department in 2007.
