Coutts Appoints New MD To UK Resident Non-Domiciled Business

Coutts has hired a former senior executive at rival Barclays to head its offering for resident non-domiciled clients in the UK.

Coutts has hired John Saunders in a newly created role to drive its offering for non-domiciled clients in the UK.

Saunders will be based in London as managing director for Western European, American and Resident Non-Domiciled clients. He will manage the Western Europe and America’s desks, which comprises of 50 employees, and will report to managing director, Michael Mount.

Previously at Barclays' wealth management business arm, Saunders led teams of high net worth bankers focused on RND, Court of Protection clients, charity and financial professionals. He was also deputy head of UBS' UK wealth management business, Coutts said.

Saunders will join Coutts' UK-based international client group, which provides a range of services to help the non-domiciled market manage their finances in the UK. This includes mortgage and tax planning, adapting investments to consider different currency earnings and onshore and offshore investment services.
