Community bank launches wealth-management division

With NEPC's support, Sun National aims at entrepreneurs, affluent clients. Vineland, N.J.-based Sun National Bank and Cranford, N.J.-based Northeast Planning Corporation (NEPC) have joined forces in Sun Wealth Management, a division of Sun National catering to the bank's commercial and high-net-work customers.

"Businesses and individuals need experienced and trustworthy advisors on their side," says Sun National's president and CEO Thomas Geisel. "We chose to form this partnership now to provide our customers with sound financial planning from seasoned professionals who can review their current situation and create a financial structure that provides for a sound future."

Adds Sun National's COO Bruce Dansbury: " NEPC's location footprint closely mirrors Sun's, reinforcing the local experience and decision-making our customers have grown to expect."

Targeting businesses, business owners, and high-net-worth customers Sun Wealth Management offers financial, investment and insurance products and services "by tapping into the experience and expertise of NEPC's seasoned staff and management team," according to a Sun National press release.

NEPC's chairman and CEO Steven Ferrara figures his firm's partnership with Sun National makes sense "because both firms strongly believe in access to senior financial advisors who will get the job done right the first time. Together, we can offer a range of financial services unmatched by most community banks, delivered by top professionals with customers' financial interests at the forefront of every decision."

Sun national has 65 branches in New Jersey. NEPC, a 40-year-old insurance and securities brokerage and an affiliate of Guardian Life Insurance, has about two dozen locations and 3,100 brokers in the state. -FWR
