Citigroup Private Bank in the US has signed a three-year agreement to become the new sponsor of golf’s Tavistock Cup. The Tavistock Cup is a team competition between the touring golf professional members of Isleworth Golf & Country Club and Lake Nona Golf & Country Club. Isleworth and Lake Nona, regarded as two of the finest golf communities in the world, and are both owned by private investment company, Tavistock Group. "We are pleased to take on this new role as the presenting sponsor of the Tavistock Cup," said Todd Thomson, chairman and chief executive officer of Citigroup Global Wealth Management. "The tournament has been a great event for clients of The Citigroup Private Bank and we look forward to sharing this opportunity with more of our clients from around the globe." The Tavistock Cup is revered as one of the most intimate sporting events in the world. Access to the event is limited to club members, community residents, sponsors and invited guests. Unlike traditional tournament play the Tavistock Cup does not rope the fairways, providing guests an up-close experience unlike any other in the world of golf. Over the past three years, Mark O'Meara and Ernie Els have served as playing captains of Team Isleworth and Team Lake Nona, respectively. The 2007 Tavistock Cup will be held on March 26 and 27 at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, Orlando Florida.
