Citi Recruits Former Morgan Stanley Figure As Research Head

Taking over from an interim research head, the new leader of this business is taking up the post at the US bank.
Citigroup, or Citi,
has appointed former Morgan Stanley senior figure Michael Zezas
(main picture) as research head. He is taking on the
role from Rob Rowe, who held the position ad interim.
At Morgan Stanley, where he spent nearly two decades, Zezas
was most recently managing director and deputy global head
of research.
This publication is seeking to clarify where Zezas will be based. He is located in New York, according to his LinkedIn profile.
"Michael's appointment reflects our commitment to investing in a
world-class research franchise," David Livingstone, chief client
officer, Citi said. "His deep market expertise, global leadership
experience and client-focused approach make him exceptionally
well positioned to lead the business. As our clients continue to
navigate capital markets, we will keep investing in top talent,
strengthening our capabilities, leveraging new technologies and
delivering timely, differentiated insights that help clients make
informed decisions.
"I want to thank Rob Rowe for his leadership as interim head of
research during this transition. In addition, I want to recognize
the whole research leadership team for their partnership and
strong execution throughout 2026," he added.
In
mid-September, the US banking group made three leadership
appointments in its trade and working capital solutions business.
While not strictly about wealth management or private banking,
the side of the business being covered by the appointments is
important for ultra-HNW clients of the US banking group which has
operating companies with cross-border and capital needs.
