Citi Private Bank Appoints US Head Of Family Office Group

Citi Private Bank has appointed Stephen Campbell as managing director and head of its Family Office Group for North America.

Based in Seattle, Campbell will become part of the private bank's North American leadership team and report to Peter Charrington, chief executive, and Catherine Weir, head of the Global Family Office group.

Campbell was latterly chief investment officer of Zefram, the personal investment company of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. His responsibilities there included managing a portfolio covering equities, fixed income and alternative investments. Earlier in his career, he spent nine years with Fidelity Investments, holding senior executive positions across the UK, Europe and Asia. He also has experience in the financial services software industry, having been CEO of both Devonshire Technology and Capital Stream.

“Stephen's diverse business background... positions him well to drive this important initiative for us,” Charrington and Weir said in a joint memo seen by WealthBriefing.

Only last month news emerged the private bank had appointed James Holder to head up the GFO business in the EMEA region, a newly-created role following the opening of the unit in the third quarter of 2010. The business provides services to the family offices of its major clients, as the bank has said these offices are growing in number.

In other recent news about the firm, yesterday it announced it is developing a social networking site for the offspring of its wealthy clients, which will include features similar to sites such as Facebook and Twitter. "Your future clients are already there whether you're there or not," Peter Gaudry, vice president and business development officer, reportedly told wealth managers at a private banking conference held in Toronto last week.
