Canadian Wealth Manager Offers Charitable Giving Service

GMP Private Client, a Canadian investment firm, has partnered with Benefaction, a charitable public foundation, to provide its clients and investment advisers with access to efficient strategies for charitable giving today by enabling them to customize their financial contributions to charitable organizations while minimising their tax burden.

“High net worth Canadians are becoming more philanthropic,” says James Werry, chief executive of GMP Private Client. “While they’re giving more every year, they want to maximize the impact of their donations. Through our partnership with Benefaction, we’re offering cost-effective solutions to charitable giving, enabling them to integrate philanthropy into their overall wealth management strategies.”

The charitable giving program provides clients with two options for their philanthropic donations, direct giving and donor advised funds.

Benefaction handles the administration of funds, fulfils the donor’s granting wishes and manages a process of due diligence for four charity portfolios.

GMP Private Client is part of GMP Capital Trust, which also operates through the following entities: Canadian investment dealer GMP Securities, Griffiths McBurney and GMP UK, providers of institutional client services, and Toronto private equity firm EdgeStone.
