Valencia-headquartered CaixaBank has created a new organisational structure for its wealth management and asset management divisions, and appointed a new wealth management head.
CaixaBank's management committee has approved a new organisational structure for CaixaBank Wealth Management and CaixaBank Asset Management. The change is designed to create a more integrated wealth proposition and bolster the growth of the group businesses’ wealth management, and the investment and asset management capabilities of CaixaBank Asset Management.
The group's two businesses play an important role in advisory and asset management of private banking, wealth and institutional clients.
As part of this new structure, Juan Llamas has been appointed head of CaixaBank Wealth Management, succeeding Belén Martín, who is taking on new responsibilities at CaixaBank CIB as managing director of the representative offices within the international area. Llamas will report directly to Jordi Mondéjar, CaixaBank's head of retail, private and business banking.
Llamas, who has 30 years of experience in private banking and wealth management, has spent almost 20 of them in CaixaBank.Until now, he was head of the business unit at CaixaBank Wealth Management.
After beginning his career at AB Asesores and Morgan Stanley, Llamas joined CaixaBank, where he has developed a significant part of his professional career. He has held a number of senior management positions, most notably serving as managing director of Barclays Wealth during the Barclays integration process, as well as various commercial management positions in private and premier banking, the firm said in a statement. Until now, he was head of the business unit at CaixaBank Wealth Management.
Under the new structure, CaixaBank Asset Management, previously integrated within the wealth management division, he will report directly to Jordi Mondéjar, CaixaBank's head of retail, private and business banking, who will also join its board of directors as vice president. The move reinforces the asset manager’s cross-functional role within the group.
These changes are completed by the appointment of Laura Comas, head of wealth value proposition, as a director of CaixaBank Wealth Management Luxembourg, replacing Belén Martín.
The reorganisation of CaixaBank Wealth Management is taking place at a time of business growth and sector transformation, marked by the emergence of new technologies, the entry of new market players and a growing demand for increasingly sophisticated wealth solutions and comprehensive financial planning.
In April, CaixaBank Wealth Management exceeded €200 billion (£231 billion) in assets under management, including individual customers holding more than €500,000 in the bank. This figure represents growth of 7.7 per cent compared with year-end 2025. Its client base also grew reaching 193,000 clients, 19,000 more than in December 2025, representing an 11 per cent increase.
