Butterfield Private Bank has appointed a head of property finance and client director to its property team.

Alpa Bhakta starts as head of property while Maria Cortes has been named client director.

Both Bhakta and Cortes join Butterfield from the private property finance team at BNP Paribas Fortis. In their new roles they will focus on high-value residential properties.

“Lending is an important aspect of private banking and facilitates a broader private client relationship that will help us meet our growth plans,” said managing director Raymond Sykes.
