Butterfield Private Bank has teamed up with UK fine art advisor and valuer Seymour Management to offer clients a comprehensive art advisory service, including acquisitions, disposal, valuations, collection management and investment advice. According to Antonia Blake, Head of Marketing, at Butterfield Private Bank, the service has been driven by the bank’s family office services which has been advising clients on art investment for a number of years. “The new service is part of a suite of client services we offer,” she told WealthBriefing. “Although investing in art is becoming a mainstream activity for many individuals, buying art requires a very different approach to other investments. Our specialist art advisory service seeks to advise the full complement of clients, from newcomers to the world of collecting to established collectors who welcome ideas on what to buy and feedback on market developments,” she said. Features of the new service include: collection management and curatorial duties - knowing exactly what and where a client’s possessions are at any one time and coordination of insurance, transits, storage and restoration; access to a broad range of sources/vendors plus quantitative research facilities; and valuation services for art and all fixed assets. The fee structure for the service is agreed through negotiation according to client requirements.
