Butterfield Hires Head Of Group Trust

Bob Moore will leave his post as managing director of the Butterfield operations in Guernsey to lead the development of the firm’s international trust business.

As executive vice president and head of group trust, Moore will oversee the group’s expansion in the field from its six jurisdictional offices in Bermuda, The Bahamas, Cayman, Guernsey, Switzerland and the international private office in London.

Moore’s former deputy, John Robinson, takes over his responsibilities at Butterfield Bank in Guernsey. Robinson, who is chairman of the Association of Guernsey Banks, joined the firm in 2001 from CIBC.

The firm said in a statement that it is investing across its trust business and thinks the outlook for growth looks bright. It has $38.5 billion of fiduciary assets under administration for both private and institutional clients.

Butterfield also said it sees Guernsey as an important part of its trust and fiduciary services business, and Moore will continue to be based on the island and work closely with Paul Hodgson, local managing director of Butterfield Trust.

In other developments at the company, Stephen Murrell was named as client director of its property lending team in London, in a bid to grow the lending side of its business. The company’s private banking arm in the UK has been under new leadership since last autumn in the shape of veteran Danny Dixon.
