Butterfield Bank Teams Up With Johns Hopkins For HNW Medical Service

Bermuda-based Bank of NT Butterfield & Son has introduced a “health maintenance” service for its private banking clients, through a partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine International.
Through the “Health Plus” service, Butterfield’s private clients will have access to the medical provider, which is the international arm of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore.
The bank describes the offering as an “information-based service,” allowing access to a Johns Hopkins health care evaluation, and a comprehensive one-day exam with the center’s internal medicine experts in Baltimore.
Medical care coordinators will help clients with arranging medical evaluations and follow-ups; getting second opinions remotely, and consultations between Johns Hopkins and local physicians, as well as travel arrangements related to a medical visit to Baltimore. A web portal will run alongside the service providing information about it.
A growing niche of service providers are developing their business models around delivering a seamless healthcare service without national borders to the ultra-wealthy. These providers often act as an overlay between clients and a network of medical experts, allowing UHNW clients the freedom to travel and live or work abroad without worrying about health problems, and access to best-in-class practitioners.
