BlackRock last week completed its merger with Merrill Lynch Investment Managers to create a firm with $1.046 trillion in combined assets under management. BlackRock has also appointed three professionals to its board of directors, bringing the total size of the board to 17, including nine independent directors. The three appointees are: Sir Deryck Maughan, managing director of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and chairman of KKR Asia; Robert Doll, BlackRock’s vice chairman and chief investment officer of global equities; and Robert Kapito, BlackRock’s vice chairman and head of portfolio management. Headquartered in New York City, the firm has over 4,500 employees in 18 countries.
