BlackRock Australia Names Country Head

BlackRock Australia has named a new country head, to start in September.

Justin Arter joins from Victorian Funds Management Corporation where he was chief executive.

He will report to Mark McCombe, BlackRock's chairman, Asia-Pacific, and become a member of BlackRock's executive committee in the region.

Prior to his appointment with Victorian Funds Management Corporation, Arter spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs JB Were where he held positions including head of research, head of institutional equities, and management roles in strategy and proprietary trading.

"The size and sophistication of the Australian market makes it a key area of focus for BlackRock Asia Pacific," said Mark McCombe, BlackRock's chairman, Asia-Pacific.

Michael McCorry, BlackRock Australia's head of scientific investments, will be acting country head until Arter commences with BlackRock.
