BEA China Strengthens Branch Network

The Bank of East Asia has opened a new branch Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, successfully transforming it into a full-service office.

The China Banking Regulatory Commission had given the go-ahead to establish a full-service branch in the area in July 2009, but BEA has been operating a representative office since 2005, the company said in a statement. Besides being a popular tourist destination, Suzhou also enjoys a relatively prosperous economy and has experienced rapid grwoth trhough the years.

"Suzhou branch is well equipped to meet the banking and financial needs of our personal and corporate customers in the region, and to contribute to the robust growth of the Delta," said Dr David KP Li, the chairman and chief executive officer of the bank.

The branch provides comprehensive foreign currency and Renminbi banking services to all clients. With the opening of Suzhou, BEA now has 16 total in the Yangtze River Delta area. It has a total of 76 outlets in the country.
