Barings Team Goes to Sarasin Chiswell

Sarasin Chiswell has announced that six professionals are due to join its international private client investment activities in London. Andrew Stewart, Mark Fairbanks Smith, Sam Jeffries, Nicholas Evans, David Vickers and Tina Plank will be joining Sarasin Chiswell this summer from Baring Asset Management. WealthBriefing yesterday reported the departure of the team from BAM, but was not able to confirm its destination. The team, which reported to John Maitland, head of private clients and charities at BAM, is believed to look after around £1 billion of client assets. This is a further step in Sarasin’s stated group wide drive for growth of its international private client business aiming at a further increase of the assets under management of the Sarasin Group to SFr100 billion by 2010, according to a statement from the bank. Fidelis Goetz, head of International Division of the Sarasin Group and chairman of Sarasin Chiswell said: “Our private client business in London has been growing successfully for a number of years. Though we have always preferred organic growth the arrival of these highly experienced professionals is not only a perfect fit, but a very positive development in Sarasin’s stated group wide drive for growth.” Total client assets under management as at 31 December 2006 amounted to £6.1 billion. Sarasin Chiswell is 75 per cent owned by Bank Sarasin and 25 per cent owned by its local management in the UK.
