Barings Hires New Equity Head

Baring Asset Management today has appointed Jean-Louis Scandella as head of equities, effective 2 June.

Baring Asset Management today has appointed Jean-Louis Scandella as head of equities, effective 2 June.

Scandella replaces Tim Scholefield, who has been with the company since 2006. Based in London, Scandella will report to chief investment officer Marino Valensise, Barings said in a statement.

He will lead Barings’ equity teams in London and Hong Kong and will also be a member of the investment committee and chair of the global sector teams.

Scandella joins from French boutique Comgest, where he was part of their leadership team.

Barings had £35.4 billion ($59.9 billion) of assets under management, of which £11.2 billion is in equities, as at 31 March 2014.
