Barclays Wealth Appoints Credit Structuring Chief For The Americas

Barclays Wealth, the wealth management arm of UK bank Barclays, has appointed Robert Lynch as head of credit structuring for the Americas – a newly created role which supports the firm’s expansion of its wealth offering in the region.

In his role of head of credit structuring and as a managing director Mr Lynch is responsible for developing a credit structuring and lending platform to enhance Barclays Wealth’s US offering, along with advancing the credit and deposit provision for clients in the Americas.

Mr Lynch is based in New York and reports regionally to Paul Feidelson, head of the Americas product office, and functionally to Torben Nielsen, head of balance sheet, Barclays Wealth.

“Credit is more important than ever to our high net worth clients. We are pleased to have someone of Bob’s experience and stature join the Barclays Wealth team in the Americas,” said Jack Petersen, managing director and head of Barclays Wealth in the Americas.

Mr Lynch joins Barclays Wealth from Bank of America US Trust, where he focused on banking and lending.  Previously he worked at Citi, most recently as head of banking and lending at Citigroup Private Bank, having also held regional management positions within private banking and commercial lending.

Barclays Wealth expanded into the Americas in September 2008 following its acquisition of certain assets of the former Lehman Brothers private investment management business.

Barclays Wealth's regional Americas business is headquartered in New York and operates through offices in Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Palm Beach and Miami in the US, and Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Barclays Wealth had £133 billion in global client assets, as at 30 June 2008.
