Barclays Wealth Announces Private Client Head In Chennai

Barclays Wealth has named Asha Mathen as director of the private client group in Chennai.
Mathen brings over 22 years of financial services experience to the role. She joined the bank's retail banking division in 2005 and proceeded to become the head of the South and East regions. She became part of the private wealth management division in 2008.
In her new role, Mathen oversees a team of private bankers covering Tamil Nadu. She reports directly to Vishal Jain, the managing director.
"India is a key market and Chennai is a growing region with its significant pool of high net worth individuals. The needs of HNW individuals are highly specific are unique and we are committed to building our talent pool here," said Satya Bansal, the chief executive for India, in a statement.
According to the recently released "Top of the Pyramid" report by Kotak Wealth and CRISIL, the number of ultra-high net worth individuals in India is set to triple in the next 5 years to 219,000, with their collective net worth also to rise fivefold to Rs235 trillion ($5.1 trillion) by 2015-16.
Barclays Wealth established its Indian operations in 2008 and has since then opened up offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata.
