Barclays to Concede Defeat on ABN Amro Bid

Barclays will today accept defeat in the battle to buy ABN Amro according to the Independent newspaper which didn’t cite sources. Barclays will formally concede today after its share-based offer lagged rival the Royal Bank of Scotland consortium’s largely cash bid, the paper said. Barclays' bid lapsed yesterday, while the consortium's offer will end today.
