Barclays appear to be calling their wealth management unit Barclays Wealth, although WealthBriefing has yet to get a clarification from the bank on whether it has re-branded its name. A number of press releases in recent weeks have referred to Barclays Wealth and in a recent Reuters interview with Michael Morley, the bank's head of international private banking, Barclays Wealth was referred to on a number of occasions. If Barclays has re-branded, which the above evidence suggests it has been, then Ian Ewart, the wealth manager’s head of marketing and communications appears to be making his mark since joining from HSBC Private Bank earlier this year. Separately, in the Reuters interview, Mr Morely said Barclays is is investing heavily in wealth-management operations in Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. He added that, Barclays will dedicate £100-125 million ($184-230 million) per year for the next three years to its private bank, investing heavily in systems, new products and hiring new people in London, Switzerland, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
