The Bank of Scotland is planning to target private banking growth and recruit up to 60 private bankers, according to a report in the Scotsman. The report said the bank plans to hire 60 client advisors in the next two years, adding to the 40 recruited in the last year. Thirty are expected to be based in London and 15 in Edinburgh. The remaining 15 will be based in the private bank’s regional centres in Leeds, Manchester and Birmingham. The report added that new business at Bank of Scotland Private Banking grew by 30 per cent in 2005. The bank has a predominately mass affluent client base throughout the UK of around 50,000 clients.
