Baker Tilly Adds Two Tax Directors From "Big Four" Firms

Baker Tilly, the accountancy and business advisory firm, has boosted its roster of tax directors with the addition of Helen Relf and Mark Waddilove to its Sussex and London offices respectively.
Relf, who has been hired to grow the firm’s regional team, develop the advisory side of the business and raise the profile of the business across the local market place, joins from KPMG. There, she most recently focused on tax-efficient structuring for owner-managed businesses and cash extraction; in particular she specialised in capital gains tax planning and advised on transactions for private clients. She first joined the “big four” firm’s corporate tax department in 2000, before moving to the private client division in 2004.
Waddilove also joins from a big four firm – PwC – where he had helped to build its professional practices group and expanded its financial services sector. While at PwC he served clients ranging from law firms to hedge funds and private equity houses, and before this he had worked for Ernst & Young, Smith & Williamson and the UK tax authority. In his new role he will focus on the professional practices sector, reviewing clients’ business structures and working to maximise the tax efficiencies associated with the LLP structure.
In other recent news about the firm, late last month it emerged that Baker Tilly had expanded its presence in Latin America by adding to its network Paraguay’s Alonso Meza – a two-partner firm which was founded by a former KPMG partner in late 2009 and which provides audit, tax and consultancy services.
Globally, Baker Tilly has some 260 partners and a total staff of 1,750.
