Aviva Investors Appoints CIO Of Solutions

The new CIO has a global role.
Aviva
Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva, has
appointed Al Denholm as chief investment officer of
solutions. He will be based in London and report to Euan
Munro, chief executive of Aviva Investors. Denholm will also join
the firm’s executive team.
In this new role, Denholm will lead a team focused on creating
distinctive solutions that deal with the needs of global clients,
covering investment solutions, responsible investment, securities
finance, investment risk and portfolio construction, and
liability-driven investment. The solutions operation will
work with investment teams across equities, fixed Income,
multi-asset and real assets.
Denholm has over 30 years’ experience in asset
management. He joins from Prudential Portfolio Management
Group and prior to this, was previously head of multi-asset
client solutions at BlackRock for Europe, Middle East and
Africa.
“The solutions function will bring together our broad
capabilities to respond to the changing needs of our clients,”
said Munro. “Al brings a wealth of experience in developing
client-focused investment teams and propositions. This, combined
with his deep knowledge of the current asset management
landscape, makes him an obvious choice to spearhead our efforts
in this area.”
In June, this publication
reported that Chicago-based LaSalle Investment
Management, the global real estate investment manager, had agreed
to acquire the real estate multi-manager (REMM) of UK firm Aviva
Investors and full ownership of the management of the Encore+
fund.
Following Aviva Investors decision to sell its REMM business to
LaSalle IM, it decided to merge its direct real estate,
infrastructure, structured finance and private debt operations to
form a new real assets business.
