London-based specialist Asian fund manager Coupland Cardiff Asset Management has appointed Jonathan Dobson to manage Japanese equity funds. He will join CCAM at the start of 2007 and will launch the CC Japan Alpha Plus Fund shortly after. Mr Dobson joins CCAM from JP Morgan Asset Management, where, as managing director, he managed various JF funds from both Tokyo and London. Most recently, he was responsible for the top-performing JF Japan Alpha Plus Fund. CCAM manages money on behalf of family offices and institutions in the Asia Pacific region. In the last year the group’s total assets under management have increased 20 fold, according to the company. Assets under management are currently $310 million. CCAM launched its first fund, CC Asia Absolute Return Fund in July 2005 and has achieved returns of 27.63 per cent to the end of August 2006, with a year-to-date return of 16.41 per cent.
