Ferrier Lullin & Cie, one of Geneva’s oldest private banking businesses, is no longer. The bank has been re-branded Banque Julius Baer & Cie after being bought by Julius Baer last September. Ferrier Lullin can trace its origins back to 1795 and was a prominent private bank in French-speaking Switzerland. In a statement on the re-branding, Julius Baer said its Geneva-based business will be in charge of developing business in France, Belgium, Africa, Monaco, the Iberian Peninsula, as well as in Latin and North America. In January, Julius Baer re-branded Banco di Lugano to Banca Julius Baer. Julius Baer bought the three private banks – Ferrier Lullin, Ehinger & Armand von Ernst, BDL Banco di Lugano as well as the London-based asset manager GAM – from UBS in September. That leaves just Ehinger & Armand von Ernst and GAM. Ehinger & Armand is expected to be re-branded soon, but GAM will retain its name, according to a spokesman for Julius Baer.
