Amundi, the global asset management business formed in 2010 by France's Societe Generale and Credit Agricole, has appointed Raphaël Sobotka as global head of multi-asset management solutions for institutional investors, based in Paris.

He will work alongside Loic Becu, who was appointed at the end of June as head of multi-asset solutions for retail and network partners, Amundi said in a statement.

Sobotka joins from HSBC, where he was chief investment officer of the multimanager EMEA division in London from 2007, with responsibility for all aspects of portfolio management and research in the region.

Before this, he was head of financial engineering at HSBC Asset Management before setting up its multimanager division in 2000.  His financial engineering unit was responsible for asset allocation strategy to support multi-asset portfolio management and delivering ALM services to institutions.
