American Century Investments Introduces Global Portfolios

Kansas City, MO-based American Century Investments has added two portfolios to its fund range to meet growing investor demand for global investment options, the firm said.
The American Century Global Allocation Fund invests in stocks, bonds and cash, as well as commodities, real estate, gold and other alternatives.
The portfolio is managed by Rich Weiss, senior portfolio manager; Enrique Chang, chief investment officer; Scott Wittman, quantitative equity chief investment officer; and Scott Wilson, portfolio manager.
The second fund, the American Century Global Bond Fund, is “an intermediate-term, investment-grade global bond fund that is designed to provide… ‘bond-like’ performance and characteristics over a market cycle,” the firm said.
“The fund is designed to be a global, core bond portfolio that holds a mix of 60 per cent foreign bonds and 40 per cent domestic bonds across government, corporate and mortgage sectors. The fund also has the ability to invest in high-yield and emerging-market debt,” it added.
The bond portfolio is managed by senior portfolio managers John Lovito and Robert Gahagan, portfolio managers Federico Garcia Zamora and Simon Chester, and fixed income chief investment officer David MacEwen.
The investor class shares have a 1.25 per cent management fee for the Global Allocation fund, and a 0.95 per cent management fee for the Global Bond fund.
"We're introducing both Global Allocation and Global Bond to address client preferences for global strategies over the past few years," said Chang.
Backing this up, the firm cited data from Morningstar which shows that assets in the world allocation category increased by 61 per cent from 2008-2011, while assets in the world bond category grew by 124 per cent over the same period.
