All Quiet in City Job Market

Hiring activity within London’s financial services market continued at a similar pace in February 2008 compared to the previous month, with new job vacancy volumes remaining steady, up 2.3 per cent, according to the latest figures from specialist recruiter Morgan McKinley. But compared with a year ago, February 2008 registered a fall of 9.6 per cent in new job vacancies as uncertainty within the financial services market continues. Candidate flow on the year remained relatively stable, up 3.3 per cent, but the average salary fell 5.9 per cent on the previous month and 1.9 per cent compared with February 2007 to £50,119 ($101,887).
